New York: Pantheon Books, 1966. First Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. Translated by Gregory Rabassa. Near Fine in a Very Good jacket, unclipped ($6.95), lightly toned, two chips at the top edge. Red cloth with blue ink lettering and designs on the spine and front board. Square and firmly bound, faded tpp stain, bookplate on the front endpaper, clean otherwise. Cortazar's classic mostmodern novel that can be read in a traditional fashion or in Cortazar's "hopscotch" method laid on in his Table of Instructions. Rabassa won the first National Book Award for translation with his work here.

Synopsis

JULIO CORTAZAR was born in 1914 in Belgium to Argentinean parents, grew up in Buenos Aires, and moved to Paris in 1951. An acclaimed and influential novelist, short-story writer, poet, playwright, and essayist, he was also a human rights advocate and amateur jazz musician. He died in Paris in 1984.
