About This Item

New York, NY: W.W. Norton & Company, 1968 W.W. Norton & Company, New York. 1968. Hardcover. Stated First Edition/2nd Printing by Line Number. Book is tight, square, and unmarked. Book Condition: Very Good +; light bumping to head and tail; scant shelfwear. DJ: Good; NOT Price Clipped ($4.95); missing small pieces at head, tail, and front tips; closed tears to top and bottom of front panel. Yellow cloth boards and spine with black banding on spine and black lettering on spine. 272 pp 8vo. This book is a perfect example of rural American enterprise in the early 1920s. The author found himself with mountainous debts through collapse of the livestock market and in the process of digging himself out of debt, he also saved a Kansas town from total bankruptcy. He takes the reader through a flash flood, his admiration of his sanitary slaughter house, and his weeping over a forced farm auction. A glorious recollection of pre-Dust Bowl, pre-Depression days. A clean very presentable copy in a Brodart mylar jacket.
