With tan cloth-covered boards with black embossed lettering to front cover, this hardcover book is in VG condition: colors bright, no fading; edges & corners crisp, no rubbing, else unmarked. Interior is clean, binding secure. Old gift inscription dated 1962 on ffep. Unclipped DJ (with 295/295 at top flap) is downgraded to only Fair-Good due to a large chip missing from front cover & missing lower part of spine, smaller creases & tears & chips all around. Synopsis

Horton Hatches the Egg is a children's book by Dr. Seuss, first published in 1940. The book, along with Horton Hears a Who later provided the thrust of the plot for the Broadway musical Seussical. The character Horton appeared again in Horton Hears a Who!, published in 1954. Plot summary The book concerns an elephant named Horton, who is convinced by an irresponsible bird named Mayzie to sit on her egg while she takes a short "break", which proves to last for months.
