Newbery Honor Book, Children's Book Award winner, and illustrated by Sendak early in his career. This copy from the library of children's literature expert and Ohio State University professor, Charlotte Huck (1922-2005). Huck served on both the Caldecott and Newbery Honor committees and authored the standard textbook, Children's Literature in the Elementary School. In 2014, the National Council of Teachers of English established an award in her honor, each year recognizing a transformative, compassionate work of children's fiction. Early printing with price of 2.75 on jacket.
