About This Item
Woodbridge: Antique Collectors' Club, 1981. Book. Fine. Original Green Cloth. Reprint of First Edition. 12" x 8 3/8". 344 pages, 580 black and white illustrations including many plans. It was Lutyens' early work before the First World War, and the first appearance of this book in 1913 which established Lutyens' name in domestic architecture of a particularly British nature. He was a master in the use of space and in the production of interesting angles and views. Arches gave glimpses, light is graded for effect, windows are cunningly placed. No detail was too small for this great architect's attention. Includes a chapter on furniture designed by Lutyens, and an appendix of scale details of typical interiors and exteriors..
