And a challenge to machines. It was a challenge to make two wheels go faster; a challenge to human skill and ingenuity to make machines safer and more reliable. It was not an easy task, considering the difficulties and obstacles that faced those pioneers of yesterday in their long leather coats and rubber ponchos. But they did it. They accepted the challenge. And over the years, one by one, the man-made barriers dissolved before them. Now, all these years later, we salute those who made it all possible, and all the many people since who in countless ways nurtured the T.T., cared for it, 'and helped develop it into what it is today.
