(Filmmakers, No. 66) Series (B&W photographs) "A comprehensive survey of the career of one of Hollywood's most oustanding composers of film music, [which] provides numerous perspectives, ranging from the personal to the critical, about one of the most important musical figures of the twentieth century. The bulk of the book consists of a transcript of the American Film Institute's oral history interview with Friedhofer himself, conducted by Irene Kahn Atkins in 1974. The book also contains: an introduction by Tony Thomas; "A Portrait of Hugo Friedhofer" by Linda Danly; reproductions of Friedhofer's correspondence with film music columnist Page Cook; an "Epilogue" by Gene Lees; an "In Memoriam" by fellow composer David Raksin; and a complete filmography. .
