Michael loved to sit at her feet while she told the story behind each one.

Synopsis

Michael and his family have a new roommate - his Great, great aunt Dew is 100 and has nowhere else to go. Ruth, Michael's mother, is resentful about the extra burden that the elderly woman puts on her, complains that Dew does not like her, and has even begun to burn Dew's possessions in the furnace! Michael loves his Aunt Dew and saves the most special things from the fiery wrath - especially the brown, old, hundred penny box, which contains a wealth of stories. Newbery Honor (1976)
