About This Item

London / New York: Macmillan and Co., Limited /The Macmillan Company, 1900. Early reprint. Hardcover. Henry Holiday. 12mo. Pp. [iv], v-xi, [3], 4-83. Frontis. illustration with tissue guard. Illustrated throughout with Holiday's fantastic creations. Coated black endpapers. All edges gilt. Cloth decorated with ample gilt. Front fly excised; gilt on spine worn away. Corners sharp. While the illustrations are superb, our favorite might be the "Ocean Chart," bordered as a map should be but, by design, entirely blank.

Synopsis

If-and the thing is wildly possible-the charge of writing nonsense were ever brought against the author of this brief but instructive poem, it would be based, I feel convinced, on the line (in p.4)
