Nancy Price (1880-1970) was born Lilian Nancy Bache Price in Kinver, Staffordshire, England. She was a noted actress on both stage and screen, and a prolific author of fiction, poetry, drama and autobiography. She managed the Little Theatre in the Adelphi, in London, and in 1934 she adapted and produced a stage version of Lewis Carroll's 'Alice in Wonderland.'

Signed, and inscribed, by Nancy Price, with two lines of verse: "'It's better to light one small/ candle than to curse the darkness'/ Best Wishes, Nancy Price" (on the front flyleaf).
