Bound in Half red leather and red cloth with gold gilt detailing to the spine. There is wear to the spine ends and binding edges, particularly to vols 3 and 4. The bindings are generally clean with some minor staining and marking, although they remain bright and smart.

Inside, the pages are clean and bright with just a hint of toning and spotting from age. Volumes 1 and 2 hinges are separating at the front, although the pages are all still present and attached. Beautifully illustrated with a range of illustrations, plates, and maps.

In all, this is a very interesting example of this comprehensive historical, cultural, political, and geographical account of the nations of Britain by Hutchinson, published in the early twentieth century, and it would make an excellent addition to any collection.
