Octavo, 231pp. Green cloth, title in gilt on spine and front board. Stated "first printing" on copyright page. Solid text block, a touch of staining on back board, light foxing on top edge, a near fine example. In publisher's dust jacket, $6.95 on front flap, a hint of foxing on verso, some shelf wear and bumps on corners, a small closed tear on back panel, a very good example. This copy is signed by the author on the front free endpaper. President George W. Bush presented Auchincloss with the 2005 National Medal of Arts.
