Octavo, xiii, [15]-327 pages; VG; bound in publisher's black cloth, white titling to spine, white monogram to front cover; Inscribed on the title page to Luke Harvey Poe by James Whittaker, dated 18/4/44. Additionally inscribed on the ffep to Harvey from James, dated Reykjavik, Iceland, 1944: "My dear Harvey: Here is a true story for you: it is as true as the law allows. There is no distortion & no exaggeration. Now you'll understand why I want to make a better world."; shelved case 9. The only known book written by James Whittaker. He served as a British Censorship Liaison Officer during WWII.; Luke Harvey Poe Jr served four years in World War II as a Lt. Cdr. with service in both the North Atlantic (U.S.S Symbol) and Pacific (U.S.S. Mississippi). The U.S.S Symbol operated in Reykjavik from March 31st through July 22nd, 1944, where this book was inscribed;. 1358459. Shelved Dupont Bookstore.
