Appendix with Statistics of Suicide-Planes and Results Claimed. Photographically illustrated dust jacket with unclipped price $6.95. Black and white photographs. Introduction by Robert Leckie. Translated from the French by Nina Rootes. Autobiographical account by one of the few surviving Kamikaze pilots of World War II. The author was a Japanese high school student when all students were drafted into the war, he decided to apply for training as a pilot, the student pilots were rushed into combat at the time suicide attacks became a policy. During the battle of Okinawa, 2,571 Japanese pilots crashed their planes, sinking 23 U.S. warships.
