Top edge dust soiled. Slight lean. In the illustrated dust jacket that shows wear to edges, especially head and tail of spine. Third printing. The Peter Rudland dust jacket art conveys the gloomy ambience of a deserted city street - deserted but for a couple dragging a corpse. See HUBIN, p. 221, who cites this as being first published by Lippincott, and that "William Irish" was one of two pen-names used by Cornell Woolrich; the other was "George Hopley." Dust jacket is now protected in a clear, removable archival sleeve.

Hutchinson , n.d. . Third impression in rather clumsily clipped jacket. Jacket still looks impressive, but has closed tears & some loss to edges, worst affected at top of spine, & has been intermittently reinforced with tape on the reverse. The book itself is slant, with the front cover set forward, & what I take to be a date has been written in ink at the top of the title page.

J. B. Lippincott. Very Good+ in Fair dust jacket. 1948. First Edition. Hardcover. First edition purple cloth is faded and toned. End pages have some toning. The jacket is in poor to fair condition. It is trimmed at top and bottom, clipped at top with price still at bottom of front flap and with considerable overall wear. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .

Philadelphia: Lippincott, 1948. 1st Ediiton. Cloth. VG/VG. 8vo. Green lettered grey cloth in decorative dust jacket. Fade mark to front panel matching where a chip has gone missing from the dust jacket which also has crease and tears. Better than it sounds. Classic noir story.
