Grays Inn Press,, [1954]. 8vo., First Edition thus, with portrait frontisiece and plates, some light offsetting from fold-ins to free endpapers, contemporary signature on paste-downs, a few leaves lightly soiled in blank margins; original black cloth, gilt back, a very good, bright, clean copy in unclipped dustwrapper. Dustwrapper artwork by Ray Theobold. Prien's classic account was first published in Germany in 1940 shortly after the event. This is the first edition in English: 'An important if partial source' (Law). SCARCE IN THIS CONDITION. Enser, p.59; Law, 0100.
