About This Item

New York: Beginner Books/Random House, 1965. First Edition, First Printing. Decorative Boards. Near Fine/Very Good+. Barney Tobey (BTOBEY). A lovely First Edition, First printing of a playful and imaginative Dr. Seuss book written under the pen name LeSieg (backwards spelling of his first name). The book itself is in near fine condition with a solid and square construction. Decorative boards are bright and clean. Very light rubbing on the ends of the book with a minor nick on the lower spine. Extremely light bumping along the bottom edges. Front endpaper and front free end paper display exceptionally clean artwork. Pages throughout the book standout as clean and crisp with bright artwork and text. The dust jacket is complete with all first issue points [Younger & Hirsch, pps.105-107]. The dust jacket is in Very Good + condition and is protected by an archival jacket. The dust jacket displays light soiling and moderate blemishes, especially on the top edge of the front panel and the bottom of the back panel. There is some chipping including a chip on the bottom of spine measuring .50" and a chip along the bottom of the front panel measuring .25". The dust jacket shows minor tanning over all. Front and rear flaps are near flawless condition. Rear flap has a clear picture of a smiling Barney Tobey. The dust jacket shows some wear but is intact and has protected the book quite well. An overall well preserved piece of childhood nostalgia.

Synopsis

I Wish That I Had Duck Feet is a children's book written by Dr. Seuss and first published in 1965. "Theo. LeSieg" was a pen name of Theodor Geisel, who is more commonly known as Dr. Seuss. The story concerns a boy who wishes that he could have many different animal and mechanical body parts, finding fantastic uses for each. After he lists all the great things he can do with his new body part, he says why it would be problematic. At the end, he decides that he is happiest being himself.
