Color Illustrations; 104 pages; Mildred Jordan (March 18, 1901 October 23, 1982) was an American author and playwright. Born in Chicago, she worked at the Hull House before relocating to Reading, Pennsylvania after her marriage. Her first novel, "One Red Rose Forever," which was based on the history of Lancaster County, was rejected by twenty-two publishers before finally appearing in 1941. Her subsequent books often focused on the lives of Pennsylvania Dutch immigrants to America Width: 6.5" Height: 8.25". From the dust jacket flap: Poor King -- what a time he had trying to convince his Queen that he did not want to wear purple underwear. In fact he actually ran away from home when she threatened to get it out from the royal cedar closets. . . . His strange adventures and the amusing way in which he solved his difficulties make a story that will delight both old and young. Author-signed first edition of this work. The vintage volume is bound in blue cloth covers with stamped gilt illustration and lettering on the front cover and spine. There is light rubbing/toning concentrated at the extremities. The binding is solid. The frontispiece depicts the king. The pages are clean with mild age toning.
