Gian Vittorio Rossi was a 17th-century Italian poet and author who is best remembered for his landmark work 'Pinacotheca'. 'Pinacotheca Imaginum Illustrium' is a collection of three hundred short biographical sketches of other authors and notable figures with whom Rossi was familiar. First published in 1643, this work was one of the first examples of an Italian literary history. Rossi, also known by his pseudonym Erythraeus, included biographies on some of the most famous historical figures including:
