Very good, 1st edition (2nd impression, same year), missing d/j, turquoise boards, gilt spine titling bright; text block firm (v. slight forward lean), untrimmed pages tight and unmarked, though with some light foxing on edges and endpapers. Owner's inscription scribbled out on ffep.. 8vo (230 x 150 / 9"" x 6""). The three lectures Eliot gave at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge in March 1939.
