His treatise "Ideas of Meteorology" covers a wide variety of topics relating to weather including hygrometry, fire and heat, fluids and electricity, atmospheric pressure, and much more. This fine, two-volume set includes two folding plates that demonstrate various electricity experiments!

o Jean-Jacques Fournier de Varennes (1739-1794), marquis de Bellevue, French military officer, planter and slaver owner from Saint-Malo, whose family helped to establish a French colony in Saint-Domingue by holding several successful sugar cane plantations. He was guillotined with several other aristocrats in 1794 as part of the French Revolution.
