About This Item
New York: Abaris Books, 1982. Hardcover. Very Good. Still in shrinkwrap. Brown cloth with gilt letters and lines on spine and front cover, 377 pp., 350+ BW illus. Part of a lengthy series of illustrated picture atlases presenting the reproduction of prints rendered by European masters. Once based primarily on the compilations created by Austrian scholar and artist Johann Adam Bernhard Ritter von Bartsch (1757-1821) in his 21-volume "Le Peintre Graveur." This volume addresses the work of Italian engraver Giulio Bonasone (1498-1574) -- as continued from the previous volume -- as well as Master of the Die (1512-1570) and French engraver Nicolas Beatrizet (1507-1565), who worked in Rome.
