Quarto, [two volumes], vii, [1], 812pp, [2]; v, [3], 772pp, [2]. Three quarter brown calf, marbled boards. Spines rebuilt, original calf laid over new spine. Text block resown, rubbing to marbled boards. Internally clean, free of notable foxing or wear. Both volumes complete: Frontispiece portrait, vignette title page, 4 bi-fold maps and 36 engraved plates in Volume I; Frontispiece portrait, vignette title page, 2 bi-fold maps and 30 engraved plates. From the library of Charles Fleischman of Cincinnati, with his library plate on front endpaper. This work first appeared as an illustrated, 8-volume work in 1856, published by James Virtue of London. This is the first two-volume edition, fully illustrated with maps and plates of the Crimean War.
