About This Item

The Illustrated London News And Sketch Ltd., London U.K., 1915 Oct 30. First Edition. Softcover. Near Fine/--. 16 H x 11 1/2 W x about 1/8 inch. NON SMOKING STORE. My listing includes PHOTO OF ACTUAL BOOK for sale. Book Interior NEAR FINE/ Covers Good to Very Good. Coated stock. Side stapled. Covers and spine are flat, bright, two small tears at the spine but the spine is worn to the point that it is torn almost all the way up, holding together at the top several inches. Both covers are entirely there however and are in pretty good shape, there are some large chips, and a section of front corner missing, some ink writing on the front cover, some light mild staining some almost invisible, the very tip of the front upper corner is missing but the date is clearly there, the back cover is a bit shelf soiled and age darkened but the photo is clear and the text can be read clearly. Inside of book is tight, clean, clear, bright, flat, some slight bending of upper right corners due to an old bend in the covers in this area which transferred itself lightly to the inside of the book. Except for the cover spine unfortunately giving up the fight to stay whole for 3/4 of its height, this book is very gently read, especially for its age. No. 3993, Vol. CXLVII. Front cover photo is “Wearing Anti-Gas Masks: A British Machine Gun Section”. Back cover photo is “A Dear Cuddlesome Glaxo Baby (Aged 8 months)”. First page photo is entitled “Swimming From A Submarine To Blow Up A Dardanelles Railway Viaduct: Lieut. Guy D’Oyly Hughes Starting Off - With The Raft Holding The Demolition Charge, Clothes, A Revolver, A Bayonet, And An Electric Torch.” Another full page photo is “After A Desperate Attempt To Force A Way Through The Enemy’s Barbed Wire: Russians Who Fell Amidst The Entanglements While Making A Forlorn - Hope Charge.” Brown and white photogravures include “Italy On The Offensive: Mountain Warfare In The Trentino”. Two Page Spread entitled “An Advance In Progress: How Ground Is Gained From The Enemy - Photographs From The French Front”. Near the back is a brown and white photogravure “Dead On The Field of Honour: Officers Killed In Action”.

WILLOWBAY BOOKS

THERE IS NO COVID-19 IN MY STORE AND MY SALES ARE ONLINE ONLY. IMPORTANT NOTE RE POSTAGE: I love books and most of my books are NEW or LIKE NEW. I'm very careful in describing my books accurately and I've done so to the best of my ability using the IOBA Book Condition guidelines. All items are from a smoke-free, clean, dry environment. My books are from a large private collection, very well taken care of and rarely handled. All descriptions and photos are of the actual books I'm selling. I'm happy to answer any questions regarding my books, just ask. IMPORTANT RE POSTAGE: I'm in Canada so books to the USA/Other Countries are International shipments and may be delayed by CUSTOMS and/or HOMELAND SECURITY. I'm using the Biblio standard postage matrix, which gives average postage fees, therefore sometimes for an OVERSIZE or LARGE heavy book or expensive book, the postage may be too low and may require extra charges. If I know this in advance, I will notify the buyer before the order is processed.

This is not a huge book warehouse, it is a small one-owner store run by a true book lover. POSSIBLE DELAYS: I'm elderly and disabled and while this usually does not cause a delay in order processing, it sometimes may cause a small delay for me to get to the post office. Thanks for your understanding. I will always email you with the date your package was shipped, and shipping method used.

I'm sure you'll enjoy looking through my books, and purchasing from WILLOWBAY BOOKS. Thanks. Ms. Bronwen Kathy Williams, Ontario, Canada.
