Publication undated, no indication of volume, presume published circa 1890; German text only, old German script; 4to, rebacked with new burgundy leather spine with original boards and cloth from spine used as new spine's title piece; good+ (boards darkened, stained, soiled, and worn; original gilt on front board almost rubbed and worn away, esp. from dog; nick and scar to bottom corner of front board; heavy wear and staining to bottom edge of rear board; corners bumped and heavily worn; gilt edges worn and dulled; gilt on bottom edge heavily worn and scraped; thin waterstain to top edge that penetrates to several page edges; foxing to some illustrations and tissueguards; chips to side edge of original ffep; two small tears to side edge of half-title page; several tissueguards chipped, torn, and creased; long waterstain to top edge of p696); 696pp incl. index + twenty-eight chromolithograph plates. This German language edition of the Vero Shaw encyclopedia of dog breeds includes drawings of some breeds not included in the English text; beautiful full-page color and black and white illustrations throughout with protective tissueguards.
