London: Hodder and Stoughton, 1915. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Good+. 8vo. [6], vii-xi, 1-77, [3] pp. White cloth with green lettering on the front board and spine. Illustrated with 15 color plates, bright and bold; with 17 half-tone plates. Plates taken from The Armies of India, painted by Major A.C. Lovett. The Lovett publication was done by A.C. Black. Each plate has explanatory notes, taken from the Lovett publication. With an introduction by Lord Sydenham of Combe. The volume gives a history of British imperialism in India, and explains a few concepts of Northern and Southern Indian culture. Very Good with a small separation between the backstrip and the textblock and a small lean; jacket shows a few chips and minor soiling.
