About This Item

Bombay: Thacker Spink & Co., 1880. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Very Good. First printing of this rare title, with no other copies found for sale on-line or in recent auction records; a reprint from 1891 does occasionally appear. Very good in soft cloth boards with slight lean to spine. Professionally rebacked with original spine laid down, and neat repair to interior hinges. Offsetting to endpapers and light stain to lower right edge of first 20 pages, otherwise clean and tight. Complete with 123 pages including blank pages between each page of text for taking notes (as issued). An early Indian cookery book compiled anonymously by a "Thirty-Five Years' Resident" and containing recipes and cooking methods on rice, curries, soups, fish, vegetables, preserves, liqueurs and more, along with information on medicines, perfumes and cosmetics. An excellent copy.
