About This Item

San Angelo: Talley Press, 1993. First Edition. Hardcover. FINE/fine. SIGNED with author's presentation, 189pp., 5 illus., 4to tan leatherette, two color dust jacket in mylar cover.

Presents a viewpoint long-lost to the modern reader. Kelton offers the reporting of news about the Indian in local newspapers from the 1840's to the 1890's. Some newspapers were even-handed in publishing Indian news. They were in the minority. The news reported from the rangers, forts & military personnel, to cities, towns and coummunity news with a main focus on Texas, but also information on New Mexico, Arizona, Oklahoma and other western states. Rare especially when signed.
