Francofurti ad Moenum [Frankfurt a.M.]: Sumptibus Joan. Melchiois Bencard, 1686. Leather Bound. Very Good +. 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches. 2 ffep + 96 numbered pages (Libri Infirmorum) + 216 numbered pages (exorcisms and benedictions). With the often missing engraved frontispiece on reverse of half title depicting spiritual warfare at bedside of suffering patient. Title with Library stamp of Capuchin library in Carlstadt. Ffeps with old Capuchin ownership inscription and handwritten notes and prayers. All edges rouged and borders cropped a little close without loss of text. Some pages lightly soiled. Bound in later full brown calf with gilt "Libellus Infirmorum" and six gilt bands to spine. Both boards with gilt borders. Gilding lightly worn. An amazing copy of Italian (Capuchin) rites for exorcism and the combatting of evil spirits. Scarce.
