About This Item

1855 Ingoldsby Legends Occult Esoteric Tenniel Leech Cruikshank Illustrated 3v

"ABRACADABRA!"

A fine 1855 printing of the famous "Ingoldsby Legends." This collection of myths, ghost stories, and poetry was written by R.H. Barham, who is better known by his penname, Thomas Ingoldsby. These legends were extremely popular from their inception in 1837, but this edition was illustrated with George Cruikshank illustrations! While this collection is somewhat less popular today than it was in the 19th-century, it does include aspects that are still recognizable – the magic command "Abracadabra" and a version of the children's song Bingo!

This 1855 'three-series' edition includes illustrations by George Cruikshank, John Leech, and John Tenniel.
