Illustrated by vignettes for policy numbers. Original edition. 4 volumes. Original printed folios stored in thirds with one-flap summary information. Signed by David K. Akin, Simeon Atwood, Joseph R. Hall Presidents; Amos Otis, Frank Thatcher, Secretaries and Eleazer Rogers Jr., Insured on all four copies. 35.5 x 43cm. pp. 4, 4, 4, 4. Very Good. Light toning at folds, several minor tears, pen notation, notation paid by John Doane (a noted church deacon, Deyo 1890). Entries in ink for 4 policies with Premium, Deposit, Sum Insured, and per cent, On his Dwelling House situated in Orleans and occupied by himself, and On his barn near said dwelling house. Eleazer Rogers (Freeman 1862, pp. 506, 5th Remove of Harwich). Freeman lists Eleazer Rogers as head of household (5th remove-Potanaumaquut-one of 14 families, pp.506). Incorporated March 2, 1833, the presidents of Barnstable County MFIC have been (Deyo 1890): David Cracker, Eben Bacon, Zenas D. Bassett, David K. Akin and Joseph R. Hall. The first secretary & treasurer was Amos Otis, succeeded by his son, George Otis, and in January 1882 by Frank Thacher. The Amos Otis Papers, I suspect, were kindled by his access to insurance data, and later edited by Charles W. Swift and published as Genealogical Notes of Barnstable Families (1888-90) ..
