London: John Gould, 1873. First Edition . Cloth - Hard Cover. Good/No Dust Jacket. 135 pages, followed by a 14 page list of subscribers, followed by four pages "prospectus of the Works on Ornithology, etc. by John Gould, F.R.S." Inscribed by the author to subscriber "Sigmund Rucker, Esq., / with the very kind regards / of the author / 20, Nov. 1873." Lacking the author's portrait which was inserted into some copies at a later date. Blind and gilt stamped red cloth covers. Lettering remains bright. There is seen some black ink stains near lower and upper edges. This same ink has resulted in a small circular stain on the lower edge of the text block that can be seen on the face of about forty leaves along the very lower margin up to an eighth of an inch or less. Volume remains tight and is otherwise clean.
