About This Item
Paris: Ant. Aug. Renouard, 1803. The binding has moderate old wear, the hinges have cracks but are holding, bookplate. Small 8vo. (ii), 296p, (ii, contents). Illustrated with 20 engraved plates, each with tissue guard. Bound in period leather with marbled endpapers, a.e.g., the spine with gilt titles with rules and small ornaments. With a FORE-EDGE painting of Noah's Ark with the procession of the animals. The painting is probably by Don Noble as it is a subject that Noble painted, the outlines of the ark are in black line, and the painting was likely done on a edge that was already gilded. A very detailed and accomplished painting on a rare book.
