About This Item
London: Home & Van Thal., 1948. First Edition. Hardcover. Small quarto. Green cloth with black spine titles. 202 pages. Old book publisher's sticker to lower front DJ flap. Light wrinkles to jacket. Numerous tape repairs to underside of jacket. A very good copy in a near very good dust jacket. This was the first modern English introduction to Coptic, which was the last stage of the "Old [Egyptian] Language." The release of this volume was an attempt to supply help to those learning the earlier stages of Old Egyptian and to act as an introduction to the extensive literature of Christian Egypt.
