About This Item

London England: Heinemann Educational, 1968. Hardback. First Edition. An Introduction to West African Animal Ecology. Slight foxing to end inside covers. Slight wear to edges and spine of D/J. The study of living things in their habitat is an esential part of a good biology course. Yet West Africa has until now lacked a basic textbook on animal ecology. Professor Olaniyan, a zoologist of interanational repute, has fulfilled this need. His book is designed primarily for sdtudents in sight-form and first year university courses, and teachers in secondary schools. It performs three basic functions. In the first place it provides in a compact and inexpensive guide to the identification of West African animals of the sea, lagoon, freshwater and land by means of copious illustrations and a simple, descriptive text. Secondly, it places each organism in relation to its terrain and the lants and animals around it. Finally, it describes how ecological evidence is obtained and interpreted. It fosters in the reader an understanding of scientific method and the ability to make constructive use of research techniques. Illustrated. 167 pp. We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions ,and all types of Academic Literature.) .
