At the beginning of the text there are two maps – one showing the route of the hurricane and a two-page map showing Galveston in 1900, and overlaying that the extent of the devastation. Photographic card cover with orange and white coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. On September 8th 1900 a hurricane ploughed into the unprepared port of Galveston, Texas, with a loss of life between 6,000 to 10,000 people. The US Weather Bureau had one of its most dependable meteorologists at the Galveston Station, Isaac Cline, who along with the weather bureau, believed that man's ingenuity had tamed nature and that there was nothing to fear. but, "...
