This catalogue was produced to accompany the exhibition of Nudes by Ivon Hitchens (1893-1979) held at the Jonathan Clark gallery, London in 2005."Together with his domestic interiors and flower pieces, his nudes are an expression of that "joie de vivre" characteristic of the French painting tradition to which he had given his allegiance at the start of his career". The gallery represents the artist's estate and holds the largest inventory of Hitchens' work. These early paintings are a celebration of the "simple life", with views of idyllic landscapes, still-lifes and sunbathers..
