About This Item
Wiesbaden, Breitkopf & Härtel, 1955. 8vo. Frontispiece,+ XVI,+ 791 pp. Full red morocco, gilt front board and top edge gilt. Front board with gilt text ”Kurt Attenberg zum 12. XII. 1957. Breitkopf & Härtel” and with a presentation card from Breitkopf & Härtel pasted on the front fly leaf. Presentation copy from the library of the Swedish composer Kurt Attenberg, but it’s uncertain if the binding is made by Attenberg or by Breitkopf & Härtel. Kurt Attenberg (1887-1974) wrote symphonies and operas and he held an important and powerful role in the music life of Sweden during the 1940s. His reputation was damaged however, after the second world war because of his close relation to the composers and music world in Nazi Germany.
