With a folding facsimile letter colour plate to volume XI.The complete fourteen volumes of the correspondences of Swedish chemist Jöns Jacob Berzelius. Considered to be one of the founders of modern chemistry, Berzelius became a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in 1808 and served from 1818 as its principal functionary.The text is mainly in Swedish, with some letters also in French, German and English.These correspondences were edited together by Swedish chemist Henrik Gustaf Söderbaum on behalf of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, for whom he served as secretary, and were published between 1912 and 1942 in fourteen volumes. These fourteen volumes were held by the Reading University Library, with each bearing a library bookplate and stamp to the front pastedown. In full cloth library bindings, with the original wraps bound in. Externally, exceptionally smart. Library bookplate and stamp to front pastedowns. Internally, firmly bound. Publisher's original wraps faded to the perimeters to some volumes. Pages bright and clean. Near Fine
