Dublin: William Curry, 1844 . Leather. Very Good. 9" by 6.5". H. K. Browne [Phiz]. An early edition of this novel from Irish author Charles Lever, illustrated throughout by Phiz. Illustrated with twenty-seven engraved plates by English artist and illustrator Hablot Knight Browne, known by his pen name, Phiz.A wonderful work from the Irish novelist, praised for its military passages and animated battle-scenes.Undated; dated 1844, with 'H. K. Browne' appearing to the title page, rather than 'Phiz'.An excellent early edition, first published two years prior. In a half morocco binding, with marbled paper covered boards. Externally, lovely, with light rubbing to centre of rear board. Front hinge a touch strained, but firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages lightly age toned, but generally clean and bright. The odd small closed tear to page fore edges, and two neat tape repairs. Very Good
