Original dark green boards illustrated to the front board with a gilt Union Jack, a soldier in uniform, a young girl wearing a bonnet a goose and little boy sitting on top of the flag, the book is bumped to the extreme edges, some rubbing, never the less the book is clean and fairly bright, gilt title to spine, this seems to be a book that has been used and enjoyed, no inscriptions, top edge gilt, brown endpapers, three stories in one book, Jackanape, Daddy Darwin's Dovecot, and Lob Lie-by-the-Fire. Top edge gilt, after the title page there is a repair holding the first colour plate in place, a strip of tape on either side (NOT cellotape) , this image is entitled 'Jackanapes, ' opposite the frontispeiece is Chaper 1, the second colour plate is also secured neatly with tape and is opposite the title for Daddy Darwin's Dovecot, 184 pages, there are plenty of black and whtie illustrations by Randolph Caldecott in the text all bringing life to the stories. The pages are generally in good condition just a few have handling marks conjusive with age and use. The text is fully readable and the pages are generally very good. . Size 9.00 x 7.00 inches approx. A clasic Victorian children's favourite. .
