Albuquerque: n.p., 1928. First edition. Very good plus.. Scarce regional literary magazine of the US Southwest, the first of just two issues released before its name change to PALO VERDE. Inaugural issue of this modernist literary journal, one of several to be founded by then-undergraduate Macleod, who along with associate editors H. Newton Oliphant and Robert Wayne Fall felt a "distinct need for a magazine which shall express simply, sincerely, and unaffectedly this Southwest of ours, the true Southwest of today." With poetry, brief prose pieces, and reviews by Paul Horgan, Haven McClure, Catherine Stuart, Letitia Eels, Matthew Pearce, Fritz Castlereigh, and others. 9'' x 6''. Original beige printed wrappers. 32 pages. Moderate edgewear, light soil and occasional creasing to wrappers. Faint dampstaining to spine and lower edge.
