About This Item

London, United Kingdom: Hodder & Stoughton, 1970. Sir James built the firm into what was New Zealand’s largest listed company until the appearance of Telecom in the 1990s. He enjoyed living dangerously and was never afraid to back his judgement. His story sheds new light on the depression years and the election of the first labour Government. He was Commissioner of Defence Construction during WW2, a delightful personality with a warm and humorous nature. CONDITION Specially bound copy in Red Leather, a crease bottom front cnr from binding fault, signed "James Fletcher KT (Knight)" to ffep, 189 pages with b/w photo illus. Very bright and crisp copy with small stain to leading edge, gift inscription to reverse of ffep. Nice DJ with faded spine. #New Zealand Biography#. Signed. First Edition. Hard Cover. Near Fine/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
