About This Item
New York: Vanguard, 1963. This is a Near Fine copy of the "Augmented Edition" of essays on Joyce by important writers and critics (such as Eliot, Farrell, Toynbee, Wilson, etc). Edited by Seon Givens (Manley) and originally published in 1948, it was her first book. This is the First Edition Thus, for which she has provided a new introduction (included is the initial version). Dark gray cloth binding. Clean text; 486 pages, with a bibliography. Very mildly bumped, else Fine. Quercus notes the decorative "experimental typography" that can be nothing other than what we call "the cloud" today. The dustjacket is complete and unclipped; shows some edgewear, and some creasing at the head of the spine. In an archival plastic protector. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. First Thus.. Hard Cover. Near Fine/Very Good Plus.
