About This Item

NY: E.P. Dutton Company, 1927. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 16mo. 159pp. First edition. Blue cloth with paper labels on spine and front board. Dust soiling to textblock edges. A few spots of discoloration to cloth. Rear board lightly creased, resulting in an area of minor cloth bubbling. Unclipped (unpriced) jacket shows moderate amounts of soiling and darkening, especially to the spine and along panel fore-edges. A fiercely felt work of pacifism arguing for the abolishment of all war. McDougall, a note-worthy British psychologist who played an important role in the development of social psychology, also pursued more controversial interests in parapsychology, animism, and the Lamarckian inheritance of behavioral traits. One of over 150 speculative essays in the influential "To-day and To-morrow" series, as published in Britain by Kegan Paul and in the U.S. by E.P. Dutton.
