Tokyo: National Research Council, Department of Education, 1926. Soft cover. Very Good. Published by Government of Japan, Tokyo. 25 soft cover pamphlets which have staple bindings., ca 1926, each 5.75x7.75". Illustrations, folding maps, some folding. Total of 471 pages. Guide book series prepared expressly for participants in the 3rd Pan Pacific Science Congress held in Tokyo from October 30 through November 11, 1926. The emphasis of the guide books is on the unique geology and flora of the areas but historical and cultural aspects are also covered. There are numerous diagrams small maps and plans and charts in the text and, occasionally, halftone text illustrations. The set was issued in a cardboard case with a closing flap which is in rough condition. NOTE: The back cover of the case has a listing of 24 excursion guides. ALL ARE PRESENT. Also, there is one EXTRA guide which is not listed anywhere: Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Kobe". This set is RARE when offered as a complete unit, and perhaps scarce with the additional guide book. The individual pamphlets range from Very Good to Fine condition. There are no markings, tears or missing pieces. Overall a sound and clean set. The cardboard case is in poor condition but with a little talent and care it could be made very presentable (build an inner liner). Listing of Excursion Guides (Per Cardboard Case). 1.
