All plates french-leaved 2 plates in color, balance black and white. These picture books, very popular during the late Edo-Meiji era were a significant aspect of the Japanese publishing industry during the 19th century with a host of Japanese woodblock print artists contributing their efforts. Images by Utagawa Kunisada, mostly portraiture of men and women from the waist up: he was the most popular, prolific and commercially successful designer of ukiyo-e woodblock prints in 19th-century Japan.
