Front cover and endpaper have soft vertical crease, not too noticeable. Text and captions to illustrations in Japanese with an English summary, table of contents and bibliography. Essay by Jun Kanai, curator-at-large, Kyoto Costume Institute. This study examines the impact of Japanese art and design on fashion, in Japan and the West. It covers work from the early 19th century through the late 20th century. Most of the clothing appears to be luxury or couture clothing and accessories. Profusely illustrated in color and black & white, with photographs, drawings and technical diagrams on virtually every page. 12" high X 9" wide, 239 pages.
