About This Item

London, Shepherds Bush Road: West London Rhythm Club. 1st Edition . Soft cover. Very Good. A rare offering of the first two issues from the West London Rhythm Club - "Jazz-Junction Jive" No.1 and No.2 for 1943 & 1944. This was supposed to be an annual publication and local jazz review, after the West London Rhythm Club was established in January,1942, by Jimmy Skidmore and Geoff Armstrong. Although many of the contributors were noted jazz authorities and journalists of the day, only these two issues could be located in public archives and university holdings by this bookseller. Perhaps the journal was short lived due to a raging World war.(?) The club itself held their weekly meetings at Brook Green Hotel (Shepherds Bush) hosting 'terrific jam sessions, record recitals of rare and unobtainable records and record auctions'. Both issues very good in original stapled wraps, with 32 pages and contributions from Rex Harris, Ralph Venables, Albert McCarthy, Johnny Rowe and others. Expect some light fading and soiling to outer covers, a little rust to staples and printed club membership applications in each issue.(photo) Price is for both issues and sold as such.
