Pairs: Dubochet, Le Chevalier, 1846. First edition in original cloth. A very nice example of this work, with 32 full page illustrations by Grandville and numerous (200) vignettes in the text. Cloth decorated with gilt detail, titles and decoration. Front design (an armourial crest) is also coloured in red and blue. Good condition, with just a little handing and fading to the boards. No significant damage. Yellow end papers. Pages a clean, with a little foxing / darkening only. Overall a very nice example. All edges gilt. Tissue guards over the full page engravings. Louis Reybaud (1799-1879), a French economist, journalist, man of letters and politician. This work is a satirical novel, "One of the best productions of Grandville" (Carteret). [vi], 460. pp. 280 by 195mm (11 by 7¾ inches). . Première édition en toile d'origine. Un très bel exemplaire de cet ouvrage, avec 32 illustrations à pleine page de Grandville et de nombreuses (200) vignettes dans le texte. La toile est décorée de détails, de titres et de décorations dorés. Le motif du frontispice (un écusson armorié) est également coloré en rouge et bleu. Bon état, avec juste un peu de manipulation et de décoloration sur les planches. Pas de dommages importants. Papiers de garde jaunes. Les pages sont propres, avec seulement quelques rousseurs / noircissements. Dans l'ensemble, un très bel exemplaire. Toutes les tranches sont dorées. Les gravures pleine page sont protégées par des gardes de tissus. Louis Reybaud (1799-1879), économiste, journaliste, homme de lettres et homme politique français. Cet ouvrage est un roman satirique, "une des meilleures productions de Grandville" (Carteret). [vi], 460. pp. 280 par 195mm (11 par 7¾ inches).
